Ranking the 10 greatest New York Mets of all time
6. Jacob deGrom, RHP (2014-22)
One of just two active players on this list, deGrom has continued his MLB career with the Texas Rangers after a brilliant stint in New York. Despite some injuries during his tenure, the righthander proved to be one of the top pitchers in Mets history, as his 2.52 ERA leads the franchise. The talented hurler also leads the organization in WHIP, and is third in opponent batting average, while his 1,607 strikeouts rank fourth all time. The Mets’ run to the 2015 World Series was fueled by deGrom’s arm in a season where he won 14 games with a 2.54 ERA and 205 strikeouts. He also made the first of four All-Star appearances in 2015 before becoming a back-to-back Cy Young Award winner in 2018 and 2019. He led the big leagues with a 1.70 ERA in 2018, and was the NL’s strikeout leader in 2019 and 2020.
