5. Earl Averill, OF (1929-39)
Averill has one of the most impressive resumes in Cleveland baseball history as he has his No. 3 retired by the franchise, was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1951, and was later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975. The accolades came after a highly decorated MLB career where Averill made six consecutive All-Star appearances from 1933-38. One of the highlights of that stretch came in 1936 when Averill led the big leagues with 232 hits and 15 triples. The outfielder leads the franchise in career triples with 121, and is also Cleveland鈥檚 career leader in RBIs (1,084) and runs (1,154). Averill ranks third in franchise history with 1,903 hits, fifth in home runs with 226 and fifth in career batting average (.322).
