3. Trevor Hoffman, RHP (1993-2008)
Padres fans spent many years watching Hoffman enter the game to AC/DC鈥檚 鈥淗ells Bells鈥� as one of the most dominant closers in the game. Hoffman didn鈥檛 solidify himself as a top closer until several years into his pro career, but went on a strong run featuring four All-Star appearances in five seasons from 1998-2002. Hoffman made two more All-Star appearances in 2006 and 2007, and did so again in his final MLB season with the Milwaukee Brewers. The dominant closer had a 2.76 career ERA in San Diego, the best in franchise history. Hoffman also leads the franchise in saves by a wide margin with 552, as well as WHIP (1.04) and opponent batting average (.211). Hoffman, who also racked up 1,029 strikeouts with the Padres, has his No. 51 retired by the club and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
