Ranking the 10 greatest San Diego Padres of all time
4. Jake Peavy, RHP (2002-09)
Peavy had a strong 15-year MLB career that also saw him suit up with the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants. However, his most successful years came at the start of his career with the Padres where he became a two-time All-Star, and twice led the majors in ERA. One of those seasons was 2007 where Peavy also had an MLB-leading 19 wins and 240 strikeouts in addition to a 2.54 ERA, earning NL Cy Young honors. Overall, Peavy had a 3.29 ERA across his eight seasons in San Diego, the fourth-best in franchise history. The 2023 Padres Hall of Fame inductee also ranks third all time in WHIP (1.19), second in wins (92) and first in strikeouts (1,348).
