Darian DeVries to Indiana: 5 WVU basketball head coach candidates
Will Wade
Wade will likely be considered for most high-major coaching vacancies this offseason, and it may only be a matter of time before he gets another opportunity at that level. Wade’s coaching career began with assistant stints at Clemson, Harvard and VCU before being hired as head coach at Chattanooga. He returned to VCU following Shaka Smart’s departure and led the Rams to 51 wins in two seasons, and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. Wade later led LSU to the Big Dance three times in five years while winning 105 games. He was dismissed after recruiting violations but has rehabbed his value the past two seasons at McNeese with 49 wins and two more trips to the NCAA Tournament. The 42-year-old has won at every stop and is a strong recruiter, perhaps giving him the highest upside of anyone on this list.
