10 bubble teams with best chance to reach 2025 NCAA Tournament
2. West Virginia Mountaineers
Similar to another Big 12 bubble squad, Baylor, West Virginia seems like a relatively safe bet to be one of the final teams in the field but will need to finish the season strong to feel confident on Selection Sunday. A recent head-to-head loss to Baylor and blowout defeats against Texas Tech and BYU have been blemishes on an overall solid resume featuring victories over Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas and Iowa State. The Mountaineers are only 5-8 in their last 13 games, but a win to close the season over UCF and perhaps another victory in the Big 12 tournament would put a nice bow on their season-long profile. Darian DeVries’ first season in Morgantown has been impressive, highlighted by the Mountaineers having a top-20 defense in the country. Star guard Javon Small has been a revelation and could put the team on his back in March.
