Ranking the 7 NFL head coach hirings of the 2025 offseason
6. Liam Coen, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars’ coaching search was messy as owner Shad Khan originally planned to retain general manager Trent Baalke, deterring some candidates. It appears that was the case for Coen who was ready to return to Tampa before taking the Jags’ job after Baalke was fired. Coen has held a wide array of coaching jobs highlighted by his time under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams from 2018-20 and again in 2022 as offensive coordinator. He was also the offensive coordinator at Kentucky in 2021 and 2023 before taking the same role with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024 and getting a career year out of Baker Mayfield. Jacksonville will hope he can produce similar magic with Trevor Lawrence. After years of failed hires, Coen may be the offensive mind to turn things around in Jacksonville, but there could be growing pains.
