Top 10 Big 12 basketball players midway through 2024-25 season
4. Curtis Jones, G, Iowa State
Keshon Gilbert garnered a lot of early-season buzz for Iowa State, but Jones has also entered the conference player of the year hunt within the past month. Despite poor shooting in his last few games, Jones is averaging a team-high 17.4 points, ranking third in the Big 12. The Buffalo transfer shoots at 43.6% from the field and 36.8% from deep while also averaging 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals as a player who can do a little bit of everything for T.J. Otzelberger. Jones only has four contests where he hasn鈥檛 scored in double figures and had 14 points or more in nine straight games from late December to late January, highlighted by a 33-point effort against Arizona State. Iowa State often goes as Jones does and his scoring will be needed for the Cyclones to have a magical March.
