Top 10 Big 12 basketball players midway through 2024-25 season
3. Javon Small, G, West Virginia
Small has proven himself as a quality guard in the Big 12 previously, but he has been a revelation for a West Virginia program that has begun a new era under head coach Darian DeVries. Small leads the Big 12 in scoring at 19.6 points per game, shooting 42.5% from the field and 36.1% from 3-point range. However, his ability to impact the game beyond putting the ball in the hoop has been impressive as he also averages 4.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists which ranks fourth in the conference. Small has also proven to be a tough matchup defensively for some of the top guards in the Big 12 and averages 1.8 steals. The former East Carolina and Oklahoma State guard has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and has helped keep the Mountaineers afloat with Tucker DeVries sidelined.
