Ranking each SEC basketball team entering conference play
9. Arkansas Razorbacks
It was hard to predict what to expect from John Calipari’s Razorbacks in his first season in Fayetteville, but Arkansas has looked the part thus far, going 11-2 in non-conference play. Arkansas’ only losses came to a top-10 Baylor team and a now-ranked Illinois squad. The Razorbacks snuck out an impressive win over Michigan, but haven’t scored many notable victories otherwise, so a true road test at Tennessee to open SEC play followed by several other games against ranked opponents will be telling. Arkansas features a deep group of skilled players, headlined by transfer forward Adou Thiero and freshman guard Boogie Fland. The Razorbacks, who rank near the top 50 nationally both offensively and defensively, are young overall but have a nice mix of veterans that could help them find their footing in a loaded SEC.
