Ranking each SEC basketball team entering conference play
10. Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss started hot last season but faltered in SEC play and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament in Chris Beard’s first year in Oxford. The Rebels have started strong again in 2024-25 and may be better prepared to succeed within the conference this time around. Ole Miss’ worst game of the season thus far came in its final non-conference matchup against Memphis. Purdue also beat the Rebels, but otherwise, Ole Miss has handled its business against lesser opponents while picking up a pair of nice wins over Louisville and BYU. Like several SEC teams, Ole Miss has been strong offensively, scoring nearly 81 points per contest, while its defense also ranks in the top 50 nationally. Veteran guards Sean Pedulla, Jaylen Murray and Matthew Murrell will make Ole Miss a dangerous team throughout SEC play.
