Makhi Hughes transferring: 5 possible landing spots for RB

Auburn would provide a return home for Hughes as the campus resides just about two hours from Birmingham. While the Tigers struggled in 2024, they are better positioned for success next season in what could be a make-or-break year for Hugh Freeze. The Tigers went just 5-7 in 2024 and finished 13th in the SEC, led offensively by quarterback Payton Thorne and running back Jarquez Hunter. Both are out of eligibility which will create a new look for the Tigers in 2025. Freeze has already made some noise in the portal, adding quarterback Jackson Arnold, running back Durrell Robinson and wide receivers Eric Singleton Jr. and Horatio Fields. Robinson also possesses upside, but Hughes could step in as a true one-for-one replacement for Hunter and be another exciting playmaker in Auburn鈥檚 backfield next season.
