7. Kinder’s Texas Bowl: Baylor vs. LSU
Baylor and LSU will square off in the Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston on New Year’s Eve in a game featuring a pair of 8-4 squads. The two programs have not played since the 1985 Liberty Bowl, a game won by Baylor, but have matched up 11 times overall with LSU winning eight contests.
The Tigers are a slight favorite to earn win No. 9 over the Bears, but Baylor might enter the contest with more momentum as winners of six in a row to close the regular season following a 2-4 start. Baylor’s defense has been up and down, but the Bears’ offense has found its footing and ranks 27th in the country behind quarterback Sawyer Robertson. LSU’s year went in the opposite direction as the Tigers lost three in a row following a 6-1 start to derail their playoff hopes. They should still give Baylor a good test in Houston though with a similarly potent offensive attack featuring Garrett Nussmeier, Kyren Lacy and Caden Durham.
