8. TransPerfect Music City Bowl: Iowa vs. Missouri
Iowa and Missouri are slated to play each other for the 14th time in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 30, but it’ll be just the second matchup between the programs since 1910. Mizzou holds a slight edge over the Hawkeyes with seven wins compared to Iowa’s six, but Iowa pulled off a dramatic victory the last time the teams played in the Insight Bowl in 2010.
This contest figures to be a similarly close battle with No. 19 Missouri a slight favorite, but the 8-4 Hawkeyes should give the Tigers a test with their top-20 total defense. It could be a different story offensively though as Iowa will likely start Brendan Sullivan at quarterback and will be without 1,500-yard rusher Kaleb Johnson. Missouri also has its fair share of opt outs headlined by wideout Luther Burden III, but the Tigers’ defense is capable of matching Iowa while Mizzou should still feature some offensive firepower behind Brady Cook, Nate Noel and Theo Wease Jr.
