Ranking each Big Ten basketball head coach for 2024-25 season
8. Dusty May, Michigan
Only a few Big Ten coaches have a Final Four appearance on their resume and May is one of them. The 47-year-old from Indiana is in his first season at Michigan and will look to bring the program back to relevance after the Wolverines struggled in the final years of Juwan Howard鈥檚 tenure. May has some familiarity with the Big Ten as he worked as a student assistant under Bob Knight at Indiana before multiple other assistant coaching jobs, most notably at Florida from 2015-18. May earned his first opportunity as a head coach at Florida Atlantic where he went 126-69 across six seasons, headlined by a 35-win, Final Four campaign in 2022-23. The 2023 Conference USA Coach of the Year feels like the right hire to rebuild Michigan鈥檚 program and he has already made some nice additions in Ann Arbor that cater to his up-tempo style.
