Ranking each Big Ten basketball head coach for 2024-25 season
9. Chris Collins, Northwestern
Collins is probably overlooked nationally but has gained a lot of respect within the Big Ten for what he has done at Northwestern. No matter what hand he has been dealt, Collins has proven he can adjust and adapt, part of what has led the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament three times in the last eight years. The 2017 tournament appearance was the first in program history, and after a couple of down years, Collins has guided the Wildcats to tournament wins the past two seasons. Northwestern advancing further in March could ultimately cement Collins’ status as one of the Big Ten’s top head coaches, but the vast improvement Mike Krzyzewski’s former assistant at Duke has made with a program that was mostly irrelevant before he arrived has been highly impressive.
