Top 10 Big Ten basketball players for the 2024-25 season
3. Bruce Thornton, G, Ohio State
Thornton may not have to put up huge numbers for Ohio State in 2024-25 as the Buckeyes had a strong offseason and added key transfers like Meechie Johnson Jr., who began his career at Ohio State before transferring to South Carolina. Johnson Jr. is also capable of emerging as one of the top players in the Big Ten following a breakout campaign, but ultimately, the Buckeyes will likely go as far as Thornton takes them this season. Thornton has started all 70 games he has played for the Buckeyes the last two seasons and the 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior guard took a big step forward last year, averaging 15.7 points, 4.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds. The big-bodied guard is crafty down low and can get hot from deep. His scoring ability and leadership will be key to a successful first full season under Jake Diebler in Columbus.
