Top 10 Big Ten basketball players for the 2024-25 season
2. Payton Sandfort, F, Iowa
Sandfort has had some clutch moments in Iowa City and emerged as the face of Iowa men鈥檚 basketball last season while averaging 16.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Sandfort is arguably the best pure shooter in the Big Ten entering the 2024-25 campaign and shot the ball at a 44.6% clip overall last season, including 37.9% from 3-point range. It wouldn鈥檛 be surprising to see the 6-foot-8, 215-pound Iowa native average closer to 20 points in his senior season and he is in the hunt to lead the conference in scoring in 2024-25 as only Dawson Garcia averaged more points than him among returning Big Ten players. Playing alongside younger brother Pryce Sandfort and talented sophomores Brock Harding and Owen Freeman, Payton could help the Hawkeyes emerge from the middle of the pack in the Big Ten.
