Top 5 matchups for Week 10 of the 2024 college football season
3. No. 19 Ole Miss at Arkansas – Saturday, Noon ET, ESPN
Ole Miss and Arkansas have had an exciting rivalry through the years as the programs have played each other 69 times dating back to 1908. Plenty of memorable games have occurred, including a pair of close Sugar Bowl matchups in 1963 and 1970. The programs have played annually since 1981 and while Arkansas leads the series with 38 wins, Ole Miss has been victorious in four of the last six matchups.
The Rebels will look to make it two in a row over the Razorbacks as they head to Fayetteville and might be playing for their playoff lives. After winning its first four games, Ole Miss has dropped two of its last four contests, losing to Kentucky and LSU by three points. However, the Rebels can put themselves back into the SEC title mix with wins this week and next week against Georgia. Ole Miss has the 11th-ranked defense in the country, but will rely heavily on its second-ranked total offense led by Jaxson Dart. Star wideout Tre Harris returning from injury would be a big boost for the Rebels as well.
Meanwhile, Arkansas is just 5-3 but the Razorbacks are not out of the SEC title hunt yet, particularly with upcoming home matchups against the Rebels and Texas. The Hogs have been competitive in nearly every game this year, picking up a win over ranked Tennessee a few weeks ago while most recently dominating Mississippi State. Arkansas is capable of keeping up with Ole Miss offensively as the seventh-ranked unit in the country and will need a big game from quarterback Taylen Green. Ultimately, this contest could come down to which team鈥檚 defense makes more plays.
