Ranking 10 college football RBs who could win Doak Walker Award
4. Omarion Hampton, North Carolina
There hasn鈥檛 been much to be excited about for North Carolina recently as the Tar Heels are just 3-3 and have dropped their last three contests. However, one bright spot has been the consistent and exceptional play of Hampton who was already on the radar as one of college football鈥檚 top tailbacks with 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns last year. The 6-foot, 220-pound junior is on pace for similar numbers in 2024 with 764 rushing yards already, the third-most in the country. Hampton has also scored seven times, and while his 5.6 yards per carry aren鈥檛 as impressive as some in the Doak Walker Award mix, his 127.3 yards per game rank fifth in the nation as he has had 100-yard efforts in five of six contests. UNC鈥檚 struggles could hurt his Doak Walker case, but Hampton will have opportunities to post big numbers down the stretch.
