Ranking 10 college football RBs who could win Doak Walker Award
3. DJ Giddens, Kansas State
Giddens has been a star for the Kansas State offense for multiple years as he ran for over 500 yards in 2022 and had a 1,200-yard campaign in 2023. Giddens is well on his way to another 1,000-yard campaign this fall with 604 yards through five games. His 120.8 rushing yards per contest rank seventh in the nation while he also averages an impressive 7.28 yards per carry which is a top-10 mark in the country as well. The 6-foot-1 junior back is a shifty downhill runner who is a threat to break off a long play any time he touches the ball. He may be a bit overlooked compared to others on this list, but if Giddens and Kansas State can take advantage of a somewhat soft schedule in November, he could post the numbers to become a favorite for the Doak Walker Award.
