Ranking 10 college football RBs who could win Doak Walker Award
5. Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech
Texas Tech has a top-25 offense in the country and a big reason why is exceptional play from Brooks who is one of the most experienced running backs in college football. The big 5-foot-10, 230-pound fifth-year senior is a strong and physical back who can break tackles and gain more yards than expected on most carries. On the season, Brooks has posted 679 rushing yards through five games, ranking fourth among all FBS rushers. Brooks has also scored seven touchdowns, averages 5.5 yards per carry and has run for 135.8 yards per game – the third-most in the country – as he has had 100-yard games in each contest he has played for 5-1 Texas Tech. With the Red Raiders in the Big 12 title hunt, more big games from Brooks will be needed and a second straight 1,500-yard season is attainable for the Doak Walker candidate.
