5. Dierre Hill, RB, Althoff Catholic
Hill is a gifted athlete who also plays basketball and competes in track, but his talent in the backfield on the gridiron is nearly unmatched among Illinois’ senior class. Hill began his prep career at Vashon High School in St. Louis before transferring to Althoff Catholic for his junior season. That transition went about as well as it could as the 5-foot-11, 180-pound halfback earned Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year honors after posting 1,788 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground. Hill was also a valuable contributor on defense for the 10-2 Crusaders, racking up 32 tackles and three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Hill is poised for a strong senior season and could have an unlimited ceiling playing in Dan Lanning’s offense at Oregon after committing to the Ducks this past May.
