6. Gabe Kaminski, Edge, Nazareth Academy
Many talented defenders reside up and down this list, but it’s hard to find someone with the individual numbers that Kaminski has put up. He is also among the most successful seniors from a team perspective in Illinois as he has helped lead Nazareth Academy to back-to-back Class 5A state championships. Kaminski had 15 tackles in last season’s title game victory, capping a remarkable turnaround for the Roadrunners following an 0-4 start. Overall, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound edge rusher amassed 140 tackles, 49 tackles for loss and 21 sacks as an all-state performer. The three-star recruit will look to put up similar numbers during the Roadrunners’ quest for a three-peat this fall before heading off to Stanford, committing to the Cardinal over a host of Big Ten schools.
