Ranking each Big 12 starting QB for the 2024 football season
13. Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati
Sorsby was not a highly-touted prospect coming out of high school like several of his Big 12 peers, but he showed flashes during his two seasons at Indiana that should give Cincinnati some optimism as it moves on from Emory Jones. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound quarterback from Texas threw for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions with the Hoosiers last year and also proved to have good scrambling ability. That combination could make him a sneaky breakout candidate in 2024.
12. Josh Hoover, TCU
TCU continues its quest to replace Max Duggan and Hoover could be in line for a strong season after gaining some valuable experience late last year. Overall, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound third-year quarterback threw for 2,206 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 62.1% of his passes. While he needs to limit his turnovers, Hoover threw for over 300 yards in five of his final six games and brings a spark to the Horned Frogs’ offense.Â
11. Alan Bowman, Oklahoma State
Bowman is one of the most experienced quarterbacks on this list as he began his collegiate career as a starter at Texas Tech back in 2018. He will enter his seventh season of college football following a two-year stint at Michigan and one season thus far at Oklahoma State where he threw for 3,460 yards, 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions as he completed around 60% of his passes. Turnovers remain an issue for the 6-foot-3, 220-pound veteran from Texas, but his arm should keep the Cowboys in plenty of games this year.
