Ranking each Big Ten starting QB for the 2024 football season
4. Will Howard, Ohio State
Ohio State had a strong 2023 season, but its quarterback play with Kyle McCord wasn’t what it had been previously with C.J. Stroud and Justin Fields. The Buckeyes’ quarterback room appeared to be in a precarious position after McCord transferred to Syracuse, but bringing in a high-profile transfer like Howard keeps the Buckeyes as Big Ten favorites. Howard has never lit the world on fire with his play at the collegiate level, but he brings experience and a nice skill set to Columbus. Howard saw starts in each of his four years at Kansas State and had a career year in 2023 where he threw for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns with a 61.3% completion rate. He also ran for 351 yards and nine scores. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Howard brings a lot of potential to Ohio State’s offense and could lead the program to a special season.
