Top 10 breakout candidates for the 2024 WNBA season
Shakira Austin, C, Washington Mystics
Austin was the third overall pick of the Mystics in 2022 and began her career with a solid rookie season. The 6-foot-5 center looked to be taking another step forward last season as she averaged double-digit scoring numbers before missing over half of the season due to a hip injury. This offseason, the Mystics lost veteran Elena Delle Donne, so plenty of minutes and opportunities are up for grabs in Washington鈥檚 frontcourt. Provided she can stay healthy, Austin will have the chance to emerge as a key player for the Mystics and live up to where the franchise selected her a couple of years ago.
