Ranking the 10 greatest Edmonton Elks in franchise history
2. Jackie Parker, QB/HB/DB (1954-62)
“Ol’ Spaghetti Legs” was a do-it-all talent — regarded by some to be the best to ever take the gridiron in Canada.
A running back, quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back who also kicked converts and field goals, Parker won the Schenley Award for Most Outstanding Player three times.
He was an All-Western performer every year from 1954-61, five times as a passer and three as a rusher. From 1954-56, he won three straight Grey Cups for Edmonton.
In a poll conducted by the Saskatoon Star Phoenix in 2000, Parker was selected as the top player in CFL history.
