Johnell Davis enters transfer portal: 5 landing spots for star
Michigan
With the recent hiring of May as head coach, the Wolverines are an obvious landing spot for Davis. Not only would joining Michigan reunite the guard with the only college head coach he’s known, but would also put him in the Big Ten which would immediately improve his draft stock, especially if he performs well in the conference. It would also return him to the Midwest, something the Indiana native may want to do.
While the Wolverines have a lot going for them in Davis’ recruitment, there are some concerns. This team is in full rebuild mode with stars Dug McDaniel and Tarris Reed in the transfer portal and Olivier Nkamhoua exhausting his eligibility. With just an 8-24 record this season, Michigan is not one year away from contending and could potentially be in for a climb back to relevancy. With only one year of eligibility remaining, Davis may want to choose a team more ready to contend next season.
