Meechie Johnson transferring: 5 possible landing spots

Kentucky Wildcats

While Johnson could make a return to the Big Ten, he may also look to stay in the SEC after two strong seasons in the conference. If he does, Kentucky could be a likely landing spot and one that perhaps gets him more ready for the NBA. The Wildcats’ 2023-24 season ended in disappointing fashion as they went one-and-done in the NCAA Tournament again which could put a little bit of pressure on John Calipari to field a roster next season that has more of a mix of veterans and young talent. Kentucky again has a couple of special guards in its next recruiting class including Boogie Fland and Billy Richmond, but the Wildcats could use a veteran presence like Johnson, particularly as they lose fifth-year senior Antonio Reeves and are likely to see a host of guards bolt for the NBA headlined by Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham.
