Meechie Johnson transferring: 5 possible landing spots

A return to Ohio State seems like one of the most likely scenarios for Johnson. The Buckeyes struggled throughout the middle portion of the 2023-24 season which led the program to fire Chris Holtmann. Assistant Jake Diebler stepped in as interim head coach and was recently named Ohio State鈥檚 permanent head coach as he led the Buckeyes to a strong finish that saw them win six of their final eight games. Diebler has an exciting young core in Columbus currently, especially with a backcourt that features Bruce Thornton, Roddy Gayle Jr. and Scotty Middleton. Adding Johnson back to that mix, particularly with the Buckeyes losing a bit of depth as Dale Bonner graduates, would make Ohio State鈥檚 backcourt one of the best in the Big Ten and could be one of the missing pieces to getting back to the NCAA Tournament.
