Top 10 players from the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament
8. Enrique Freeman, F, Akron
Freeman has flown under the radar as a result of playing for a mid-major like Akron, but the 6-foot-7 forward has been a consistent star for the Zips over the last few years. The senior has saved his best for last in 2023-24, averaging career-highs in points (18.6) and rebounds (12.9). Freeman has had a double-double in all but four games this season while scoring 20 points or more 16 times. He also shoots an efficient 59.3% from the field as a strong post presence for the Zips’ offense. Meanwhile, Freeman can also impact the defensive end of the floor as a shot blocker, racking up 1.8 blocks per game. Akron gets a tough draw against Creighton in the first round of the tournament, but Freeman and talented guard Ali Ali give the Zips a chance at an upset.
