Top 10 players from the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament
2. Dalton Knecht, G, Tennessee
Knecht’s emergence this season has been a surprise as he is arguably the best grab from last year’s transfer portal cycle. Tennessee has a sour taste in its mouth after being upset in its first game of the SEC Tournament, but the regular-season SEC champs could make a deep NCAA Tournament run behind their star guard. On the season, Knecht is averaging 21.1 points – a top-15 mark among Division I players – 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 46.5% from the field and an impressive 39.7% from 3-point range. The 6-foot-6 SEC Player of the Year has put up seven 30-point games this season with some of his best performances coming against the Vols’ toughest opponents. The former Northern Colorado standout has the rare ability to single-handedly swing games this March before likely becoming an NBA draft lottery pick.
