Top 10 players from the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament
1. Zach Edey, C, Purdue
As good as Knecht has been, it鈥檚 hard to go with anyone but Edey in this spot. The 7-foot-4 center is poised to bring home his second consecutive national player of the year award following another dominant season where he has averaged an NCAA-best 24.4 points in addition to 11.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 blocks while shooting almost 62% from the field. Edey is tough to officiate and nearly impossible to defend in the low post as he helped the 29-4 Boilermakers to a Big Ten regular-season title. Purdue鈥檚 struggles in the NCAA Tournament during the Edey era have been well documented, and the Boilermakers were just upset by 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson last year. However, with an improved supporting cast, Edey鈥檚 last go around should be different as he may prove to be the most dominant player in the tournament.
