Top 10 Illinois HS baseball players in Class of 2024
5. Jimmy Janicki, C, Downers Grove North
Janicki is coming off of a tremendous junior season where he was named co-conference player of the year and a first-team all-state catcher for Downers Grove North. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound standout is a good all-around athlete who also played linebacker for the Trojans’ football team the last few years. His athleticism has translated to the diamond as well and Janicki has proven to be a strong defensive presence behind the plate while also swinging a powerful bat. Last season, he hit .488 with six home runs, 53 RBIs and 61 hits. Janicki showed well throughout the summer and displayed his hitting ability again in February at Prep Baseball Report’s Super 60 showcase. Janicki may have a pro future ahead of him following his senior season with the Trojans and is committed to play college baseball at Troy.
