Top 10 Illinois HS baseball players in Class of 2024
6. Cooper Malamazian, SS, Nazareth Academy
Nazareth Academy has had a lot of talented pieces lead the program to back-to-back IHSA Class 3A state championships and one of those in Malamazian. Despite missing 13 games last season, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound shortstop led the Roadrunners with a .528 batting average to go along with a .593 on-base percentage and a 1.538 OPS. Malamazian also hit five home runs to pair with 32 RBIs and 27 runs scored. In addition to his terrific bat, the second-team all-state performer has also proven capable as a pitcher and has been on the mound to close out both of the Roadrunners’ recent state title wins. With the majority of its lineup returning, Nazareth Academy should be a threat for a three-peat with another strong season from Malamazian, who will play college baseball at Indiana following his prep career.
