2. Mason Russell, LHP, Casteel
While teammate Landon Hairston took care of the at-bats, Russell played his part on the mound on the way to the 5A state championship with the Colts. Russell struggled in the championship game but he was a big reason they got there, tossing a no-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts in the state semifinal. The 6-2, 185-pound lefty can throw his fastball up to 93 mph and has a wicked slider to compliment it. Russell is already considered a top 100 prospect nationally with the potential to rise even further in the spring and will play collegiately at Arizona following his senior season.
