Ranking the 9 new Power 5 head coach hires this offseason
2. Curt Cignetti, Indiana
Cignetti is one of the most experienced head coaches on this list. After years of success at the D-II and FCS levels, Cignetti helped James Madison as it transitioned from FCS to FBS and did so incredibly well. During his five years with the Dukes, Cignetti led James Madison to an impressive 52-9 record including an 11-1 record this past season.
Cignetti spent 27 years as an FBS assistant coach, learning under legendary head coaches like Nick Saban and Johnny Majors so he knows what success looks like in Power 5 football. While it may be difficult to find success in Bloomington, expectations aren鈥檛 as high for Cignetti there as it would be in other places given the program鈥檚 lack of success in its history. However, with his ability to recruit and coach quarterbacks, Cignetti could help the Hoosiers program turn things around quickly, especially given his track record as a head coach, having gone 119-35 in 13 seasons.
