Shohei Ohtani officially a free agent; Top 5 landing spots
2. Seattle Mariners
Perhaps the most famous Japanese baseball player of all time, Ichiro Suzuki played for the Mariners for 14 of his 19 seasons in the MLB. Could fellow Japan native Ohtani follow in the legend鈥檚 footsteps? Maybe. Seattle has a desperate need for a designated hitter and missed the postseason by just one game last year. Led by Julio Rodriguez in the field and Luis Castillo and Robbie Ray on the mound, the Mariners seem to be set up well for the future. Given that Ohtani has spent time training in the Pacific Northwest in previous seasons, he鈥檚 used to the area and could easily slot into the DH role in 2024 before helping the pitching staff in 2025. For these reasons, coupled with a big contract, the two-way star could make his way north to join an up-and-coming Seattle squad.
