Shohei Ohtani officially a free agent; Top 5 landing spots
4. New York Mets
While the Mets appear to be the furthest away from contending for a World Series on this list, they have the deep pockets and willingness to spend to make them a threat for Ohtani. With a need at designated hitter, Ohtani would slot in nicely into a lineup that includes stars Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor. While New York may not be on the West Coast where Ohtani is probably the most comfortable, it is the biggest market in the league and would only help to make the star鈥檚 spotlight even brighter nationally and internationally. With the league鈥檚 richest owner Steve Cohen at the helm, expect the Mets to throw big money at Ohtani in hopes of replacing the stars they lost at the trade deadline.
