5. Chicago Cubs
The Cubs appear to be making moves towards World Series contention already this offseason by hiring manager Craig Counsell away from the Milwaukee Brewers to the tune of a record five-year, $40 million deal. Chicago was on the outside looking in for the playoffs last year, but with a core of young stars Dansby Swanson, Justin Steele and Nico Hoerner, they appear to be in the playoff picture for years to come. Adding Ohtani would certainly put the roster over the top not only in 2024, but for future years as well and with Cubs ownership appearing eager to build a contender at all costs, it鈥檚 no surprise that they鈥檝e been rumored to be for the two-way star鈥檚 services.
