Shohei Ohtani officially a free agent; Top 5 landing spots
LOS ANGELES (BVM) – Shohei Ohtani is officially a free agent. The two-time American League MVP is likely to earn one of the most, if not the most, lucrative deal in MLB history thanks to his ability to star not only on the mound but also at the plate.
In six years with the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani hit .274 with 171 home runs and 437 RBIs and a .922 OPS in 716 games at the plate while going 38-19 with a 3.01 ERA, .200 average against and 1.08 WHIP in 86 starts. Though he won’t pitch in the 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October, his skills as a designated hitter alone are still likely enough to earn Ohtani record-breaking contract numbers.
Given his unique abilities as both a starting pitcher and elite slugger, Ohtani will have the interest of every MLB team though only a few will be able to seriously contend for his services. Here are five potential landing spots for Ohtani.
