Ranking college football’s top 10 running backs so far in 2023
8. Darius Taylor, Minnesota
Minnesota has somewhat quietly featured some immensely talented backs in recent years, and Taylor, a 5-foot-11 freshman from Detroit, appears to be next in line. Taylor carried the ball just once in the Golden Gophers’ season opener, but has earned 86 carries since, and has rewarded Minnesota with 193, 138, and 198-yard rushing performances. The talented back has added four touchdowns in that stretch, and has also averaged over six yards per carry. Although two of those performances came in losses, Taylor has the ability to help Minnesota compete in the Big Ten West going forward, and could prove to be a staple of the team’s offense for years to come as already one of the best looking backs in the Big Ten.
