Boyd did a little bit of everything for the Trojans, playing wide receiver, safety and return man. During his junior season, Boyd caught 60 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing 53 times for 342 yards with two TDs and returning 15 punts for 270 yards and two touchdowns and 11 kickoffs for 363 yards with one TD for a 12-2 Charles Henderson that made it to the Class 5A state title game. He was named first-team for his efforts.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete has earned respect from scouts thanks in part to his versatility, being ranked the No. 24 player in the state by . Boyd earned eight scholarship offers from programs like Arkansas State, Houston, Liberty and Tulane but he ultimately chose to stay in his hometown at Troy.
