3. Markell Jones, Columbus East (2012-14)
When it comes to post-high school football success, Jones sits near the top among players on this list. However, it all started at the high school level for the 2014 Mr. Football award winner. Over the course of his four years at Columbus East, Jones ran for 7,930 yards, but it was his senior season that stands out the most, as he set the single-season rushing record in the Hoosier State with 3,536 yards 鈥� a mark that still stands today 鈥� and also scored 60 touchdowns.
A three-star recruit coming out of high school, the 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back began his career at Purdue strong with 1,114 total yards and 11 total touchdowns as a freshman. Jones concluded a solid career with the Boilermakers with 2,594 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
