Top 10 all-time leading rushers in Texas HS football
3. Traylon Shead, Cayuga (2006-09)
Shead was a tremendous athlete throughout his time at Cayuga High School, lettering in basketball and track and field while truly shining on the football field. On the gridiron for the Wildcats, Shead became an All-American, three-time first-team all-state performer and was named the Texas 1A Offensive Player of the Year twice. He racked up an impressive 10,298 yards with the Wildcats, and also graduated as the state鈥檚 all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (141).
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound tailback was a highly-touted recruit coming out of high school, and landed at Texas where he would play one season before competing at the JUCO level with Navarro College outside of Dallas. Shead played his final season of college football at SMU where he saw action in just four games due to injury. From there, he entered his name into the NFL supplemental draft.
