Top 10 all-time leading rushers in Texas HS football
4. Trevor Speights, McAllen Memorial (2012-15)
Speights starred in the same 2016 class as Cory Kyle, and produced a similarly impressive career to the Seagraves tailback. At McAllen Memorial, Speights ran for over 1,700 yards as just a freshman, and produced back-to-back 2,000-yard campaigns as a sophomore and junior. It was his senior year that stood out, however, as he amassed 3,195 yards and 50 touchdowns, finishing his Mustangs career with rushing totals of 9,868 yards and 120 scores.
Speights became a three-star recruit and a top-20 running back nationally coming out of McAllen Memorial, leading him to play college football at Stanford. For the Cardinal, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound standout saw playing time in both the 2017 and 2018 seasons, rushing for 363 yards and a touchdown. An injury derailed Speights’ 2019 season, and despite transferring to Notre Dame, he never played a down for the Irish after receiving a medical disqualification from the roster.
