Bob Huggins resigns; 5 candidates to replace WVU head coach
2. Jerrod Calhoun
Another familiar name for West Virginia fans is Calhoun, who served as an assistant under Huggins from 2007-2012. Now, Calhoun is one of the hotter names in college basketball as he has led his Youngstown State program to unprecedented success including four straight winning seasons, three postseason appearances and the first regular-season championship in program history.
Calhoun is not only familiar with the Mountaineers program but West Virginia as a whole as he served as head coach for the Fairmont State men鈥檚 team from 2012-17, culminating in the program鈥檚 national championship game appearance during his final season. With his success as a head coach in the area and at the D-I level as well as his knowledge of the previous regime, Calhoun could keep the program relevant while inserting his own style.
