Bob Huggins resigns; 5 candidates to replace WVU head coach

3. Ron Everhart

A familiar name for Mountaineers fans, Everhart has been part of the WVU coaching staff since 2012. The Fairmont, W.Va. native also comes with a lot of head coaching experience having served as the head man for 18 seasons at Duquesne, Northeastern and McNeese State, compiling a record of 273-261.

Everhart would have an intimate knowledge of the program, its players and comes with a lot of recruiting experience in the area as Duquesne is only about an hour away from the WVU campus. Given his understanding of the area, the program, and his success as a former head coach, Everhart could be the easiest decision for the Mountaineers while also keeping the program relatively intact as it would likely be run similarly to how it was in the Huggins’ era.
