Top 10 all-time leading passers in Washington HS football
2. Brett Rypien, Shadle Park (2011-14)
Rypien is one of the more recognizable names on this list in part thanks to his family history in the sport, but also the career he has had on the gridiron at Shadle Park and beyond. Rypien, the nephew of former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien, stood above the rest during his time playing high school football in Washington, setting the career record for passing yards at the time with 13,044, as well as completions with 1,006. Brett also posted the single-season record for completions (345), and single-game records for yards (613) and completions (44).
Like another guy on this list, Kellen Moore, Brett went on to play at Boise State where he threw for 13,578 yards and 90 touchdowns, earning first-team All-Mountain West honors three times, and the conference鈥檚 offensive player of the year award in 2018. After going undrafted, Brett joined the Denver Broncos, making his first career NFL start in 2020, while seeing action in four games during the 2022 season. In May 2023, Brett signed with the Los Angeles Rams.
